The November election results for the Northfield and Macedonia mayoral elections did not change with recounts performed Friday morning by the Summit County Board of Elections. The hand-counted ballots matched the machine results exactly, said board Director Ron Koehler. Northfield Mayor Victor Milani and Sylvia Hanneken, a Macedonia mayoral candidate, requested the paid recounts. Milani lost to challenger Jesse Nehez, a Northfield councilman, by about 100 votes in the Nov. 8 election, while Hanneken was defeated by two-term Mayor Donald Kuchta by about 50 votes, according to official election results. The recounts cost $55 per precinct. Milani asked for a recount of the entire village, while Hanneken requested a recount of just Precinct B. Koehler said the board now is working on automatic recounts of the Akron school levy, Norton council at-large and Stow school board. He hopes to have those completed by the end of the day.
